Looking for fun and festive ways to decorate your windows this holiday season? Well look no further, because we here at ShadeZone have compiled a list of the best holiday window decoration ideas for you to use in your home this year.

  1. Christmas Lights

A classic Christmas decoration, Christmas lights are festive, practical, and aesthetically pleasing. Indoor Christmas lights can easily be strung across the top of your windows with no fuss or mess. They are instantly recognizable as Christmas decorations and are visible from both the outside and within. The soft glow of the coloured lights makes for a charming visual and provides practical benefits when it is used as a low-level light source. A turkey dinner eaten by the light of a string of Christmas lights is sure to put anyone in the festive mood.

  1. Garlands

For a similar option that doesn’t rely on a power source, simple garlands made of real or artificial evergreen boughs make for lovely festive additions to the tops (and sides) of window frames. This greenery can be complemented by bells, holly, berries, cones, ribbons, Christmas ornaments, or even a string of Christmas lights if desired. Garlands can be as simple or as decorative as you want, as they will bring holiday cheer to your home in any style.

  1. Bells

Another option for the tops of your window frames is a string of multicoloured Christmas bells. These festive and jolly decorations will set your windows apart from the pack in a way that feels unique, yet coherent and harmonious with your home décor and other Christmas decorations.

  1. Cards

Once your Christmas cards start rolling in, you can also consider making a string of them over each of your window frames. This creates a unique display for both the inside and outside of your home and serves as a reminder of all the people thinking of you this holiday season.

  1. Wreaths

Wreaths are most commonly hung as a decoration for a front door, but they also make great window decorations. This isn’t to say that you shouldn’t have a wreath at your front door, just that it isn’t the only place where they would be well-suited. Placing a wreath at the centre of your window makes for a bold and eye-catching centrepiece that is sure to impress. The wreath can be attached directly to the window, or hung from red, white, silver, or gold ribbon or cord.

  1. Ribbons

A good alternative to wreaths that could also serve as a centrepiece to a festively decorated window is a large bow ribbon. Red is the best base colour for evoking Christmas cheer, but it can be complemented with accents of gold, silver, black, or white in different patterns that show off your unique style and taste.

  1. A Christmas Tree

And of course, you can't go wrong with a classic Christmas tree in the window.
