Just like there are different styles, quality, and designs of shades and blinds, not all retractable screens are the same. Today’s retractable screens are tremendously different than those of just several years ago installed in Vancouver and are now made to cover large openings for windows, doors, and specific areas. The best retractable screen systems can be retrofitted into a door or window almost seamlessly so that they are hardly noticeable.
Please check the mounting space for obstructions before obtaining your measurements to be sure they won't restrict your blind from freely operating inside the window area. (for example, window handles, partially tiled areas, or imperfections in the mounting space)
Using a measuring tape or a laser measuring device, take 3 separate measurements across the width (A-B) and down the drop (C-D). Mark down the SMALLEST measurement on the Width and on the Height.
From the dimensions provided, we will manufacture your blinds/shades so that it fits perfectly inside the window space with enough clearance for them to travel freely.
A slightly different method of measurement is used for Outside Mount Installation.
Choose the amount of overlap you want along the opening's width and height. We suggest allowing a minimum of 1 inch on each side, as well as at the top and bottom, to guarantee that your opening is completely covered. Of course, it's okay if you want to add more.
Measurements E through F and G through H should be taken in accordance with the intended overlap.
When taking your measures, please remember that if you need a roller/solar shade, zebra blind, or horizontal sheers, the fabric will cover about 1/2 inch less on each side than the entire width measurement due to the mounting brackets and hardware.
