More commonly known as ‘zebra shades’ due to their distinctive pattern of alternating horizontal bars of fabric, dual shades offer a unique way of customizing your level of privacy and light control throughout the day. By using two layers of fabric, each of which alternates between strips of sheer fabric that lets in more light and more opaque fabric that offers greater privacy and light reduction, you can alter the relative position of the two layers in order to decide whether to allow vision and light to pass through the bands of sheer fabric or not. When the horizontal bands of sheer fabric on both layers are lined up with one another, you will be able to see out and outside light will be able to enter into your home, although the sheer fabric protects against harsh glare, harmful UV rays, and offers a minimal amount of privacy. When the bands of more solid fabric on one layer are lined up with the bands of sheer fabric on the other, the solid fabric forms a complete screen made up of the two layers that provides privacy and blocks sunlight. Since the layers of fabric are placed very close together and the solid bars of fabric are designed to slightly overlap with one another when they are positioned to block outside light, there is little to no gap for sunlight to enter through when the shades have been placed in that position. However, for bedrooms and other areas where providing full darkness is highly important, an additional blackout shade can be added behind the zebra shade to block the light. These blinds offer great value for customers in the Vancouver area, which is why they are only growing in popularity.
